“He’s Four Short of a Six Pac”

That is my father’s favorite joke about Tupac Shakur, who I was only briefly obsessed with throughout high school and college. Additional trivia: Someone gave me the nickname “DMX chick” in college.

So given my appreciation of anything that mixes home decor with hip hop culture, I thought I would share this with you. How great is this poster- “The Grand Taxonomy of Rap Names”? Pop Chart Lab has some serious home decor worthy graphic posters.  I am a big fan. Check them out.

Barefoot and pregnant

All Hail Ina

When I was pregnant, I started to watch the Food Network religiously, which I later learned was Not A Good Idea.  Already in a constant state of hunger and irritability, watching others effortlessly create gourmet meals when all I had in my pantry was some old biscotti and perhaps, if I was lucky, Rice-A-Roni, inevitably led to tears.

Enter The Barefoot Contessa. Oh Ina Garten. I know if we met, we could become life long friends. I could perhaps fill the “young whippersnapper with a lot to learn” role.  My husband could discuss DC politics with you. And my son would just look cute.  That’s what he does.

The first Barefoot recipe we tackled became an instant favorite and is now a staple at our Christmas dinner. I can’t begin to tell you how many people have asked for the recipe.  So here you go:  Barefoot Contessa Portobello Mushroom Lasagna, courtesy of foodnetwork.com.  Don’t say I never did anything for you.

New Year, New Blog!

I started this blog because I am constantly inspired by the things I read and see everyday and love to find inspiration from others.  I needed a place to file away these ideas and I want to invite you to join me.  Just consider me your cyber BFF who loves to talk about shopping, home decor, cooking and anything and everything in between! I’ve got ideas and I can’t wait to share them.
